It seems Tesla on a full end-of-the-year – or even end-of-the-quarter – move, which is backed by various initiatives in order to finish strong. According to Electrek, one of these is the extension of the titular referral program. The company also offered others like a cancellation waitlist.
The decision comes after it extended the program through the end of the year. Now, the car manufacturer has decided to lengthen the duration of the referral program, which is expected to last until March 11 next year.
As expected, the details stay relevant and the same as ever. For instance, owners will have the ability to provide a referral code to potential new buyers. From there, each party would be able to get perks simply for doing so. Also, buyers will be given at least 6 months of free supercharging while owners will get to have escalating rewards, particularly on the number of referrals they have acquired.
Starting today, however, things will change a bit. That is because buyers will also obtain an addition free supercharging of 3 months. This will be made possible if and only if they “order without ever having taken a test drive” with the company.
According to Tesla, there will be a total of two additional rewards, both of which will be added to the standard rewards that currently exist. These are none other than a hat and some Model 3 Performance wheels.
In the past, the reward for the 1 referral was simply to “launch your photo into deep space orbit.” It is basically where Tesla would laser-tech an image straight onto a glass and send it into space. Now, instead of doing this process, the company would send buyers a brand new hat as remembrance of the special occasion.
As for three referrals, Tesla before offered an option between a new set of wheels or a week with a Model S or X. It should be noted that the former is applicable to either model of the car. Now, the company wants to offer a set of Forged Performance Wheels specifically for Model 3. Despite being added to the choices for this reward tier, they will not necessarily be available for installation until sometime in the summer of 2019.
There are other aspects of the referral program, though. For starters, there will be entries into a drawing to race a Tesla semi. It could also be an option to acquire $250 cash for Tesla solar installation referrals. Last but not the least is the 5-year extended warranty for the buyer of the system. These referral rewards, in particular, have remained unchanged since inception.
There is also the cancellation waitlist. Basically, buyers may ask Tesla to include them in this category in order to get the chance to obtain a 2018 delivery. This will be made possible if someone, who ordered before November 30, and decides to cancel.
Tesla also has also made its inventory and display cars available at some stores, giving better access to potential buyers. At the same time, this allows the company to come up with a much better and fast deliver process. As of this writing, it proves to be more helpful than the usual customer orders.
In order to help maintain demand for those, the car company decided to extend its referral program last night. As mentioned already above, buyers are given another one more week (until December 17th) to use a referral code. And by doing so, they will be able to get 6 months of free Supercharging with new Model S, Model X, and Model 3 orders.
Tesla’s inventory vehicles are sold as new and, thus, can get the federal tax credit for electric vehicles. Furthermore, Musk has also been pushing the company’s new policy of allowing returns within 3 days for people who order without a test drive, which is not unusual when buying an inventory vehicle.
